Let's think about another course that's on offer by the authorities - 'Pass Plus' Why is it necessary? You've already passed the Government's driving test. Why do you need something else? There are several answers to this but the most important one is that the Government realises that the standard Driving Test is TOTALLY INADEQUATE. Isn't it shameful that official driving tuition in this country offers no motorway driving instruction before the driving test is taken? Suddenly, after not being allowed anywhere near a motorway, you can now go and travel at 70 mph, among scores of drivers who are not interested that you don't know what you're doing! They don't care. 'Driver Awareness' and the accompanying book "Mind How You Go" will show you a new ATTITUDE to motorways. They will invite you to THINK and to view others in a different light. There are many psychological aspects that you may not know. Many insurance companies are no longer reducing premiums for people with a 'Pass Plus' certificate. Why? Because they realise that it has limited value and isn't helping to reduce the number of crashes, especially those involving young people. Any driver education is useful but who are the educators? Do they actually have useful information that will help you to think differently and stay alive on the roads or is it, yet again, more of the same old, same old that isn't working in reducing the number of deaths? EINSTEIN HAD A REALLY GOOD DEFINITION OF INSANITY. HE SAID IT WAS DOING THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER AGAIN AND EXPECTING DIFFERENT RESULTS. That brings me to my next question: What is an accident? The word 'accident' infers that whatever happened was unavoidable and that nobody was to blame. This is not the case on the roads - there is always someone at fault. Usually someone has assumed that another driver will or will not do something and has acted on that assumption. At 'Driver Awareness' we say that the word 'assume' makes an ASS out of YOU and ME! Other European countries do not have accidents, they only have crashes and that's what we believe. What do YOU think? In the book "Mind How You Go" there are lots of sections on these aspects, all written in an interesting, non- patronising way. |
